What EVA Foam Actually Is

EVA stands for ethylene-vinyl acetate, a copolymer material used across plenty of applications, from footwear midsoles to packaging, long before it became popular for boat decks. What makes it suited to marine use is the combination of flexibility, cushioning, and water resistance the material offers when it's manufactured properly.

Not all EVA foam is made to the same standard, and the gap between a quality marine-grade product and a cheaper alternative becomes obvious once the material spends time in real conditions on the water.

Closed-Cell Construction
